GLAAD And Rockway Institute To Provide
Media Training Before APA Convention
July 9, 2007 - The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation and the Rockway Institute, headed by Dr. Robert-Jay Green, will conduct a media training seminar on August 16, 2007, a day before the APA Convention in San Francisco.
According to GLAAD/Rockway, the training will be designed "specifically toward preparing psychologists (researchers and practitioners) to convey their expertise about LGBT issues to the public via the media." (Source: Division 44 Newsletter, Summer, page 8.)
GLAAD publishes a Media Reference Guide for journalists that tells reporters what terms to use in reporting on gays, bisexuals, lesbians and transgendered individuals. It also targets ex-gay organizations and conversion therapy as illegitimate.
