NARTH Training Institute
STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

NARTH is the only secular professional association which supports mental-health professionals in providing services to clients seeking to modify their sexual orientation. In view of the tragic absence of any training to prepare professionals to assist this population, NARTH now offers specific training in sexual re-orientation practice through the NARTH TRAINING INSTITUTE (NTI).

The NTI is open to many forms of therapeutic approaches that fit the following description:

  1. Conform to standard professional ethical and practice guidelines;

  2. Conform to NARTH's view of homosexuality as a developmental adaptation which is distressful to some people;

  3. Training programs that are supported by a rationale that links theory and practice to the intended outcome of diminished homosexual desire;

  4. Training is offered by mental-health practitioners that are licensed by their respective mental-health professions;

  5. Training is open to licensed and credentialed professionals and registered interns.

NTI training workshops are conducted throughout the year, and on the Friday of the annual NARTH Conference.

NTI workshops address men's and women's issues; families and friends of strugglers; and childhood intervention programs.

Resources:

Resources include the Bieber Library with over 3,000 books and periodicals and video materials. Individual supervision and day-long training workshops are available.

Credentials:

At this time the NTI does not offer credentials to trainees.

Director of Training:
Joseph Nicolosi, Ph.D.

The Director of Training is responsible for encouraging creative and innovative advances in the theory and application of treatment for unwanted homosexuality.
