Ex-Gay, Now Baptist Pastor Speaks To Campus Group
October 14, 2005 -
Pastor Tim Wilkins, a former practicing homosexual recently spoke to the Apologetics Association on
the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
According to a report in the UWM Post, a campus paper, Pastor Wilkins' speech was interrupted by
cell phones, audience comments, and a fight-that witnesses claim was staged.
Pastor Wilkins told the audience, including gays, that, "Change for the homosexual is less about
flipping a switch and more about turning a knob."
In discussing "gay theology," Wilkins said, "Gay theology is a reinterpretation of scripture to say
what scripture does not really say." It is a reinterpretation to find loopholes to justify actions
and sin, said Wilkins.
He told homosexuals, "You can choose to abstain from ... homosexual activity. Rest assured with time
and obedience, the attraction for (the same sex) will diminish and the attraction for (the opposite
sex) will increase."
