Report from Africa Notes Risk of Gay Sex, Cites NARTH's Jeffrey Satinover
July 30, 2007 - A report published by All Africa Global Media on July 23, cites NARTH Scientific Advisory Committee member Jeffrey Satinover, Ph.D. about the causes of same-sex attractions and behaviors.
The report attempts to define what "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" are and then deals with the question of whether or not there is a "gay gene." Dr. Satinover is quoted from the Journal of Human Sexuality as saying: "There is no evidence that shows that homosexuality is genetic - and none of the research itself claims there is. Only the press and certain researchers do, when speaking in sound bites to the public."
The article also briefly discusses the Danish study by Frisch and Hviid in 2006 that found that "unknown paternal identity, parental divorce, short durection of cohabitation with both parents, and long duration of father-absent cohabitation with mother, were all associated with increased rates of homosexual marriage." This study gives compelling evidence about the environmental factors associated with SSA.
