NARTH Advisor Interviewed For WORLD Magazine
February 18, 2005 - Dr. Jeffrey Satinover, a NARTH Scientific Advisory Committee
member was interviewed in a February, 2005 issue of WORLD magazine.
Dr. Satinover, author of Homosexuality and the Politics of Truth, discussed the
political agenda of the gay rights movement and its success in intimidating the
American Psychiatric Association (APA) into removing homosexuality as a mental
disorder in the DSM.
According to Satinover, Judd Marmor and homosexual activists inside the APA
arranged to have outside gay activist organizations disrupt APA meetings to
protest the listing of homosexuality as a mental disorder.
Dr. Satinover also notes that Dr. Evelyn Hooker's "bogus" research work on
homosexuality and Alfred Kinsey's data were used to declare that homosexual
behavior was no different than heterosexual behavior.
Yet, he observes, "Anyone who actually reads the studies examining the
association between homosexuality and psychological disturbance will find a very
strong association."
As a result of the removal of homosexuality from the DSM as a disordered
condition, pro-gay mental health professionals are influencing court decisions
including rulings on gay marriage, civil rights, and sexual orientation, notes
Satinover.
Dr. Satinover says: "Like you and me, their sexuality is broken in a broken
world. The notion that 'homosexuals' are in effect a 'different species'
(different genes) is ludicrous beyond belief. There is not the slightest
evidence for that as anyone who actually reads the studies (not reports on the
studies) knows."
